Outdoor Ice

The Sister Bay Rink is an outdoor rink, and is completely dependent on our boss……Mother Nature.  We need many days of temperatures below 32 F in order for the ground to freeze, and for the base coat of ice to stabilize.

The rink will not open until we have the right conditions to support sustainable ice, chiefly, several days below freezing, and the anticipation that those temperatures will hold below freezing for the next several weeks.

If Mother Nature cooperates, we aim to open on New Year’s Eve each season, and we close once temperatures can no longer sustain the ice, typically at the end of February or early March.
